Rudd, 72, of 6587 Jordan Lake Road, Saranac, a prominent Berlin Township farmer, died Tuesday at the Blodgett Medical Center in Grand Rapids from injuries received in an accident. He was born Aug. 8, 1907 in Orange Township, the son of George and Julia Nash Rudd. He has lived on his parents and grandparents’ farms in Berlin Township for his entire life. Mr. Rudd was married to Myra Thomas on June 5, 1935. He was active in the Berlin Center United Methodist Church where he was a member of the official board and treasurer of the Sunday School. He was a charter member of the Saranac Lion Club and a former member of the township board of review. Survivors include his wife, Myra; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Diane) Denny; a grandson, Craig Denny; and five granddaughters, Amanda, Robin, Sara Jo, Shannon and Erin; and many cousins. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa with the Rev. Willis Braun officiating. Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Berlin Center United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the chapel.
