August 3, 1987 MYRA J. RUDD SARANAC - Myra J.Rudd, 76, of 6587 Jordan Lake Road, Saranac, died Saturday, August 1, 1987, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born January 28, 1911, in Ionia, the daughter of Wilbur and Rose Thomas. She graduated from Ionia High School in 1929, and Ionia County Normal in 1931. She was married to Clarence Rudd on June 5, 1935, in Ionia. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1979. Four brothers, Richard, Claude, Charles and Bill, and three sisters, Mabel, Ruth and Lois, also preceded her in death. She taught in the Steele, Randall, Pleasant Valley and Lake Elementary Schools and also for several years at the Lake Odessa Kiddie College.She also taught piano lessons at her home. She was a member of the Berlin Center United Methodist Church, where she served as Treasurer for several years. She was also a Sunday School teacher, a Bible School director, a member of the united methodist Women and an officer int eh Ionia Area United Church Women Council. She was also a member of the Lake Odessa Rural Mothers Study Club and the Berlin Center Ladies Progressive Club. Survivors include one daughter Diane denny of Saranac; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild: one brother, George Thomas, of Ionia, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. at the Berlin Center United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Willis D.Braun officiating. Burial will follow in Balcom Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Berlin Center United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society. The family will be at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
