Cynthia Ruth Ruehs, 65, of Ionia, passed away Nov. 5, 2012. She was born Oct. 
1, 1947 in Ionia, the daughter of Fowler and Luella (Elzey) Hopkins.

She married Paul Ruehs Dec. 2, 1977 in Ionia.

Cynthia graduated from Ionia High School. She was the food service director at 
the Ionia County Sheriff Department until retiring in 2012. Cynthia especially 
loved her grandchildren. She also loved to gamble with her buddy and have 
monthly luncheons with her friends. 

Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of 34 years Paul Ruehs of Ionia; 
daughters Christi (Joe) White of Lyons and Kari (Kirk) Bussell of Ionia; sons, 
Scott (Teresa) Ruehs of Orleans and Tom Ruehs of Ionia; grandchildren, Sadie, 
Kinzee, Shaylee, Danica and Colter; brothers, Dick (Sharon) Hopkins of Grand 
Rapids and Dennis (Sue) Hopkins of Coldwater; and sister Judy (Walt) Rooney of 
Ionia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob Hopkins and 
Wayne Elzey.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Shiloh Community Church 
with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will receive friends and 
relatives 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
