Monday, March 6, 1989 IONIA...Thomas A. Ruehs,41 of Ionia, died Saturday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Ionia June 11, 1947, the son of Edward and Mary Hausserman Ruehs. He was graduated from St. John's Lutheran School and with the Class of 1965 from Ionia High School. He was graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana in 1972 with a degree in business administration. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, including 13 months in Vietnam, during 1967-68. He was employed by Owen-Ames-Kimball Construction Company in Grand Rapids until his illness prevented him from working. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons, Justin L. and Jared L. Ruehs, both of Belding; his parents, Edward and Mary Ruehs of Ionia; a brother, James E. Ruehs of Ionia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Complete funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Theodore Voll officiating. Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery. The family will be at Cook Funeral Home, Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial for St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund has been established, in care of the funeral home.
