Lake O. Wave, Thursday, Dec. 20, 1979

PALO- Mrs. Retta Litchfield Runyan, 91, 8273 Front St., died Dec. 15, in the 
Belding Christian Nursing home.

Mrs. Runyan was born Aug. 17, 1888, in Sunfield, the daughter of Cyrus and Julia 
Reinsmith Shaffer. She attended the Sunfield area schools, and married Roy W. 
Litchfield on Sept. 15, 1907. He preceded her in death May 26, 1957.

She married Herbie Runyan Dec. 1959, in Ionia, and they lived in the Lake Odessa 
area before making their home in Palo in October 1978. He preceded her in death 
July 9, 1957.

Surviving are two sons, Lee L. Litchfield, Palo and Durwood V. Litchfield, 
Baldwin; two daughters, Mrs. Erma Weeks, Saranac and Mrs. Clare Maxine Stahl, 
Clarksville; one brother, Elmer Shaffer, Sunfield; and 22 grandchildren, 65 
great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

A son, Cleo, died in 1970 and another, Elvin, died in 1977. A daughter, Atheline 
Fisher, died in 1974.

Funeral services were Dec. 18 at the Mapes-Fisher Funeral Home in Sunfield with 
the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Burial was in the Sunfield cemetery.
