Wave & Lake O.Times May 3, 1934 DEATH GIVES RELIEF TO LESLIE RUSH, MON. Retired Farmer at Lake Odessa, Active Member of I.O.O.F. and Rebekahs. Leaves Widow and One Son For more than a year Let" Rush as he was familiarly called, has suffered from one of those stomach troubles which always end the same way.Unable to eat anything like hearty food for a long time, he slowly failed until death came Monday to his great relief.Mrs.Rush in normal life was an active, hard-working farmer. when years began their toll he left the farm, purchased a home on Sixth Avenue,Lake Odessa, and there with his wife enjoyed several years of happiness, going back and forth to his farm, just over the line in Woodland township. One of his greatest pleasures aside from his family was in the friendship of his fraternal associates in the I.O.O.F.and Rebekah lodges whee his memory will be cherished and be place on the roll call of those who have "gone before." LESLIE NEHEMIAH RUSH Leslie Nehemiah Rush was born August 23, 1862, in Odessa township. He was the son fo Elisha and Elizabeth Rush, pioneer settlers in his township.His death occurred on the evening of April 30, 1934, at the age of 71 years, eight months and seven days.Mr.Rush lived his entire life in Odessa and Woodland townships. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Jane Demaray, July 4, 1887. To them were born two children.Leo N.Rush of Woodland township and a daughter June Irene, who died in infancy. The life work of Mr.Rush has been farming. In this useful field he labored diligently and successfully, taking pride in his farm and his livestock. He was actively connected with the Lake Odessa fair in the years when it was in operation. He was known among us as an honorable citizen, a kindly neighbor, a loving father and husband. For a number of years he has been a member of the Lake Odessa Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and also of the Rebekah Lodge here. He is survived by his widow, Mrs.Elizabeth Rush, his son Leo, four grandsons, Leslie, Jr., Kenneth, Dallas, and Roger, two sisters, Mrs Ida Cooley of Lake Odessa and Mrs.Edna Lepard of Charlotte and numerous other relatives. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at Central Methodist church.Rev. A.T. Cartland officiating. The musical numbers were sung by Mr.and Mrs.Russell Goodemoot, accompanied by Mrs.Thomas Johnson. Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery. Those from away to attend the funeral were; Mr and Mrs.Eugene Root and daughter and husband of Novi; Mr.Hal Palmer and father Benjamin Demaray of Flint; Mr and Mrs Herbert Calkins, Mr and MrsHugh Meyers and daughter Arloa, Mr and Mrs Ellsworth Meyers and Mr and Mrs Loren Meyers, all of Hastings' Mrs.Vinnie Garvey and son Lloyd of Charlotte, Mrs.Edna Lepard of Charlotte a sister of Mr.Rush, visited him Sunday. Cartland for his comforting words, Mr and Mrs Goodemoot for singing, the I.O.O.F. and Rebekahs and all those who helped in any way during the sickness and death of our dear husband and father.
