Rusnell, 69, will be Tuesday at 2 pm at Leddick funeral home. Rev. Dale Carrick of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Vestaburg will officiate and interment will be at East Plains cemetery. Mr. Rusnell, a retired masonry contractor, died Friday evening at his residence at 122 North Depot of an apparent heart attack. Fifteen years ago in 1958, Rusnell caught his arm in a plaster mixing machine while working at Ionia County Memorial hospital addition and his heart stopped beating. He was moved into the hospital where a doctor opened his chest and massaged his heart which began to beat again. He recovered from the accident to live 15 additional years. Born in Elmira, November 29, 1904, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Butler Rusnell. He attended high school in Antrim after which he served his apprenticeship as a brick layer and was self employed in the trade for several years prior to World War II. During the war he worked at Fisher Body in Lansing after which he returned to his former trade. He was self employed and also worked for several local contractors in the Ionia area. He was a member of local one Bricklayers Union and former member of the Moose lodge. April 2, 1925, he was married to Mary Alice Melvin of Pewamo and she died in 1934. He later married Harriett Custer, October 30, 1935 and she survives. He also leaves five sons, Dale of Fairbanks, Alaska, Karl, Kenneth and Ban, all of Ionia and Gerald of Pinckney; three daughters, Mrs. Artis Coe and Mrs. Arla Lesky of Ionia, Mrs. Avis White of Belleville; 23 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan of Pontiac and Loren of Vestaburg; two sisters, Mrs. Verna Cameron of Baldwin and Mrs. Connie Good of Lansing. Family will be at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 pm. Additional Comments: Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Saturday, July 14, 1973 Merle E.
