Longtime Alaskan resident Dale W. Rusnell died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 
Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.

Dale was born September 19, 1930 in Ionia to Merle E. and Mary A. Rusnell.  He 
served in the Air Force during the Korean War and after discharge worked as a 
Field Service Representative for Gibson Refrigerator Company.

In 1961 he and his wife, Sally, moved to Fairbanks and he attended the 
University of Alaska, Fairbanks.  He earned a bachelors degree in Electrical 
Engineering, a masters degree in Engineering Management and qualified for a 
Professional Engineer designation.  He worked for Golden Valley Electric 
Service in Fairbanks, the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and upon his 
relocation to Anchorage, worked for the State of Alaska until retirement.

He was an avid curler and belonged to both the Fairbanks Curling Club and the 
Anchorage Curling Club.  He and his wife traveled extensively both in the 
United States and in foreign countries.  He enjoyed dip netting salmon at 
Chitina and hiking the trails in Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Sally, his siblings and their spouses, John and 
Arla Lesky, Avis White, Karl and Shirley Rusnell, Kenneth (skip) and Alice 
Rusnell, Ben and Anna Rusnell, Gerald (Jay) and Phyllis Rusnell, uncles and 
aunts and many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by both parents 
and his sister, Artis Coe.

As he requested, cremation will take place and his ashes will be scattered on 
Mt. McKinley.  A memorial gathering will take place in Ionia at a future 
date.  Any memorials may be sent to the charity of choice or the University of 
Alaska, Development Office, c/o Dale W. Rusnell, P.O. Box 757530, Fairbanks,
