He was born January 11, 1941 the son of Harriet and Merle Rusnell. He was a devoted husband to Phyllis for 41 years, a loving father to Chris (Margaret) and Bard (Alissa), a proud grandfather to Christopher, Adrian and Carter. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his sisters, Arla (John) Lesky and Avis White, his brothers, Karl (Shirley) Rusnell, Kenneth (Alice) Rusnell and Ben (Anna) Rusnell, his sister- in-law Sally Rusnell and Jeanne (Tom) Blackstock, his mother-in-law Maxine Donoho, his brothers-in-law Gaylord Coe, Robert (Carolyn) Moon and Kim Moon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Artis Coe, his brother Dale Rusnell, his brother-in-law Don White and his father-in-law Wilbur Moon. Jay was the owner-operator of Jay’s Plumbing Company for 26 years and a member of Local 190 for more than 30 years. He was a valued member of his community and touched everyone he met. He was a Cub Scout Master for Eberwhite School and helped influence the lives of many children in the community. His kindness was exemplified by his many acts of charity, helping to strengthen causes such as Airedale Rescue, Habitat for Humanity, Father Gabriel Richard High School, the Humane Society and many less fortunate families in the area. He looked forward to his annual trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania Antique Car Show and enjoyed doing restorations on his antique cars, especially his 1967 Corvette. He was an avid John Wayne and Elvis Presley fan. His faith in God gave him and his family great strength during his three-year battle with cancer. He often said “When God needs a plumber, He will call me home.” Jay will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was our love, our strength and our passion. He was the cornerstone of our family, an incredible husband, father and grandfather. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2003 at the Nei Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003.
