Jan. 15, 1949 Lake O Wave – Jan. 1949 Former Druggist, Physician Here Dies In Pontiac Dr. O.C. Russ, 94, died early Saturday morning at a convalescent home in Pontiac. A former resident and druggist also a practicing physician here about fifty years ago when he was in business with his brother the late John Russ. In 1901 the drug business was sold to Frank Smelker and while here Dr. Russ built the house now owned by Alton Nye. Dr. Russ also owned and operated a general store at Sunfield, later disposing of that before going to East Lansing about 30 years ago. He was a life member of the F & A.M. Lodge 395 and was made a life member of the board of trustees of the Congregational church years ago. Surviving is a daughter Mrs. Frances Nanning of Phoenix, Arizona. His wife died about 18 years ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2, under auspices of the F & A.M. Lodge 395, at the Pickens chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
