Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Feb. 16, 2012

Thomas J. Russell, (Skeeter), 65, of Pewamo passed away unexpectedly of a heart 
attack, Feb. 14, 2012 in Ionia. He was born Aug. 31, 1946 in Ionia the son of 
Seth and Helen (Lohr) Russell.

Tom married Elizabeth Sandborn 45 years ago in Portland.

He cherished his granddaughters, loved to play with and sing to his younger 
grandsons. He kept abreast of how the grandkids were doing in their respective 
sports and education.

Tom served in the U.S. Army and retired from GM. He enjoyed visiting with 
people at the gas station in Fowler. He was willing to lend a hand to someone 
in need and enjoyed talking with people around the country, Canada and overseas 
about hunting, his coon dogs and haflinger horses.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Betty Russell of Pewamo; children, Lisa 
(Todd) Boettger of St. Johns, Peggy (Bryan) Fox of Pewamo, Joseph (Michelle) 
Russell of Allen, Texas, Jonathan (Tori) Russell of Westphalia and Amy Russell 
of Lansing; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Kortnie, Brittnie, Zachary and Jacob, Luke 
and Thomas, Seth, Kelsey and Conner, Rylee and Aiden; and many sisters and 
brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Also, special friend Jenny 
Geller of Fowler.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Lake funeral Home in Ionia. 
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Anyone 
wishing may make memorial contributions in Tom's name to Lyons First Christian 
Church Food Pantry.

The family would like to thank Pewamo first responders and Portland ambulance 
service, Dr. Estes and his team at Sparrow Ionia Hospital for the care given.
