Neighbor Misses Him and Investigates. John Russell, 71, was found Sunday forenoon slumped in a chair in a living room of his home at the northeastern edge of the village by William Reed, a neighbor, when he sought to investigate the cause of the aged man's absence. It is thought Mr. Russell died Friday evening while getting ready for bed. Coroner Orin Stone and Sheriff Herbert A Ross, who with Deputy William Gardner, inspected the body, were of the opinion Russell, who was unmarried and had resided alone since the death several years ago of his mother, had succumbed most likely as he was retiring Friday evening. There was no evidence, Sheriff Ross said, indicating foul play , and a small amount of money in his pocket had not been disturbed. Russell had been a resident of this community half a century, and leaves three sisters, Mrs. Alt Rathburn of lake Odessa; Mrs. Julis Salmon of Hastings, and Mrs. Fannie Struble of Flint, as well as three brothers, Leslie of Lansing; Emerson of Hart, and William of Carlton Center. Coroner Stone and sheriff Ross declared an inquest was unwarranted. The Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Walter Wortley home. Burial was in lakeside cemetery.
