                    MRS. JAMES RUSSELL DIES FROM STROKE

OLD RESIDENT HERE. SPLENDID WIFE AND MOTHER. FUNERAL WEDNESDAY.

                                             -----------

   Mrs. Rebekah Russell, and old resident of Odessa township and of Lake Odessa
passed away Monday 
morning on her 81st birthday, after weeks of suffering.

   Mrs. Russell and husband owned the farm on the north side of the road at Bonanza
before the town started.  
She was an unusually beautiful character as a wife and mother.

   The funeral was held at the home Wednesday afternoon.

   She was the mother of Bert and Charles Russell of Lake Odessa, Louie of Grand
Rapids, Dick of Kalamazoo, 
and of Mrs. Isabelle Cain, Mrs. Laura Gregg and Miss Della Russell of Hastings.

                                OBITUARY OF REBECCA RUSSELL

   Rebecca Knap was born in Cinack county, Ohio, June 2, 1848 and passed away at
Lake Odessa, June 2, 
1929, at the age of just 81 years.

   She came to Michigan with her people in the year 1858.  She was united in
marriage to James W. Russell on 
November 27, 1867.  To this union nine children were born.  Two passed on in early
childhood.  Seven are left 
to mourn the departed mother.  They are, Isabelle Kane, Della Russell and Laura
Gregg of Hastings, Bert and 
Charley Russell of Lake Odessa, Lannie Russell of Grand Rapids and Jessie Russell of
Kalamazoo

   Mrs. Russell was a member of the Congregational church of Lake Odessa but due to
poor health did not 
attend often.

   She was a kind and loving mother and loved her home and family and always wore a
smile for all whom she 
met.  She was a good Christian mother and a patient sufferer and we know that she
now rests with Him whom 
she has known and served for many years.
