Russman, 87, of Portland died July 4, 1997. He was born in Portland June 25, 1910, the son of Joseph and Wilhelmina (Hunt) Russman. He had retired from farming and TRW where he was employed as a maintenance technician. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland, a member of the choir for 40 years, and a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Isabel; three daughters, Marie DeBaldo, Janie (Mike) Schrauben, and Kathie (Don) Chamberlain; five sons, Joseph (Peggy), John (Mary), James (Lynda), and Frederick H. (Annie), all of Portland, and Thomas (Kathy) of Lyons; 31 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Zanto of Portland. He was preceded in death by one brother, Herman, and two sisters, Josephine Skinner and Genevieve Koster. Funeral mass was celebrated July 7 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles Hall officiating. Rite of Committal was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Ionia. Contributions may be made to the Father Flohe Foundation or to the family.
