Feb. 5, 2009 Shirley Rusnell, age 73, of Ionia passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2009. She was born on June 27, 1935 in Ionia, the daughter of Ray and Oneta Elvert. Shirley was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who took great joy in her family. She will always be remembered for her love of cooking, knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. Shirley was also a devoted member of the Easton United Methodist Church. Shirley is survived by her husband of 21 years, Karl; daughter, Lorinda (Mark) Hills; son, Timothy (Stacie) Burns, stepchildren Marc (Terri) Rusnell, Craig (Iris) Russnell, Kristie Gould and Brian Rusnell; grandchildren Alicia Hills (Mike Ralston), Brandon Hills, Adam Burns, Joshua Burns and Alexis Burns; great- grandson Carter Ralston; stepgrandchildren Danielle (Donny) Green, Nicholas Rusnell, Amy Rusnell, Michael Gould, Kyle Gould, Kaycee Gould, Adriona Gould, Miriah Gould, Sara Gould, and Carl Rusnell and step great-grandson Keaton Green; sisters-in-law Yvonne Elvert, Merleta Antcliff, Leora Listerman, Arla Lesky, Phyllis Rusnell, Sally Rusnell and Avis White; brothers-in-law Ben (Anna) Rusnell and Skip (Alice) Rusnell and many loving and caring nieces and nephews. She was a preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cheryl L. Burns; mother- and-father-in-law, Merl and Margreta Burns and Harrit Rusnell; brother, Robert A. Elvert; brothers-in-law, Clinton Antcliff, Jay Rusnell and Dale Rusnell and sister-in-law, Artis (Gaylord) Coe. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Easton United Methodist Church in Ionia with pastor Nancy Patera. Burial will be held at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia In lieu of flowers you may make contributions to Easton United Methodist Church.
