                              ALLAN E.RUTZ

Allan E. Rutz, 62, of 241 Clover Lane, Saranac, died Thursday near Harrison as a 
result of a snowmobile accident.

Clare county sheriff's deputies reported he was killed instantly when his 
snowmobile ran off a runway at the Clare County airport, hit a tree and flipped 
over on top of him. The airfield was deserted.

Born in Detroit, December 2, 1910, he was the son of Edward and Ethel 
Sweetingham Rutz. He attended school in Detroit and September 21, 1936, he was 
married in Detroit to Kathryn Kernen and made their home in Detroit until moving 
to Ionia in 1955 then to Saranac in 1966.

He had been employed at Crysler Tank plant in Detroit, Saranac Manufacturing 
Company and Ace Plating Company in Grand Rapids. He had worked in plant 
management in all plants.

About two months ago he returned to work a plant manager at Saranac 
Manufacturing Company.

Surviving beside his wife, Kathryn of Saranac, are a son, Edward Rutz of 
Saranac; two daughters, Mrs.Edward Kortan and Mrs.Kenneth Rusnell of Ionia; 
eight grandchildren; mother, Mrs.Ethel Rutz of Saranac; sister,Mr.Les Grayson of 
Garden Grove, Calif.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 pm at Leddick Funeral Home.Rev.James 
R.Frank of Galilee Baptist Church in Saranac will officiate and interment will 
be at Saranac Cemetery.

Family will be at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 m and Saturday from 2 to 4 
pm and 7 to 9 pm.

A memorial has been established.
