Ionia Shopper's Guide - Saturday April 12, 2025

          RUTZ

Edward R. Rutz, age 84 of Ionia formerly of Saranac, passed away April 8, 2025. 
He was born February 24, 1941 in Detroit, the  son of Allen and Kathryn (Kernen) 
Rutz.

Ed married Joyce Zander April 23, 1060, she preceded him in death August 5, 
2016.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra (Walter) Maciejewski of Gowen, Barbara 
(David) Hardy of Saranac, Tracy (Lorren) Denman of Muir and Darcie(Joel) Smith 
of Saranac. Grandchildren,Jason (Kate) Hardy, Tara (Travis) Decker, Andrea 
Hardy, Walter"Richie" (Val) Maciejewski, Melissa Maciejewski, Alisha (Bobby) 
Maciejewski, Derek (Kayla)Denman, Calvin (Holly) Denman, Lucas (Mariah)Smith and 
Colby Smith. Great-grandchildren, Carson, Caiden, Isaac, Ivan, Mylie, Lexie, 
Elyrie, Julia, Ivy, Tucker, Taten, J.J. and Cooper.Sisters Connie (Eddie) 
Kortan. Brother-in-law, Gale Zander. Step-sister-in-law, Patrece VanVleck, 
Special Aunt,PeeWee Kernen. Special friends, Fran Jorae (and Family), Terry and 
Judy McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents wife Joyce, sister, Ellen Auman and 
brother-in-law Ron Auman.

Ed loved NASCAR and tinkering and was everyone's "Handyman". He loved going to 
Florida in the winter with his wife Joyce.

Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Community Church 8197 Heth Street,  
Orleans on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with pastor James Floy 
officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Lake Funeral 
Home in Ionia on Friday 4-7 p.m. Those wishing may make memorial contributions 
to Green Acres of Ionia in Memory of Ed. Online condolences may be made to 
www.lakefuneralhomes.com.
