Ionia Daily Sentinel – Thursday, 2 April 1914
Drowned in Pool of Water

Hubbardston, March 31 – Joseph Ryan, 18 years old, who formerly lived with his 
parents, two and one-half miles northeast of Hubbardston, was found Sunday 
morning drowned in a mud hole near their present home two miles northwest of 
Maple Rapids.  He was subject to epilepsy and it is supposed that he suffered 
an attack and fell with this face in a pool of muddy water about six inches 
deep.
