He was born on Feb. 2, 1939 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, the son of Doyle E. and Lula E. (Pierce) Ryan. Patrick has lived in Belding most of his life, was educated in Belding Schools and graduated with the class of 1957. He entered the United States Air Force following high school and attended the Air Force Academy as a Cadet. Following his release from the military in 1962, he continued his service to country through his work in the Peace Corps. He attended several universities, earning his Associates Degree in San Antonio, Texas, and pursued coursework in engineering at Michigan State University. He had many significant accomplishments in his career in Aerospace engineering including work for the Space Program and NASA. While his work took him to other parts of the country for periods of time, Belding has always been home for Patrick. He was a long- time member of the Greenville American Legion and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Barbara who he married near Woods Lake in 1996; his children; Sean (Beth) Ryan of Belding, Shannon (Stephanie) Ryan of Lansing, Christine Hath of Marquette, Matt Matecki of Portage and Laurie Matecki of Sanford, N.C.; grandchildren Barbee, Patrick, Alaina, Jacob, Donovan, Fiona, Zachary and Megan; and several cousins and friends. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; a spouse, Barbee in 1987; a daughter, Sherry Ryan in 1985; and a brother, Michael.
