Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Sat, Sept 28, 1974
Ralph Safford, 87, of 517 St. Clare, Sheridan died Friday.  He was born July 
19, 1887, in Dodge county, Minn.

A retired farmer, he had lived in the Palo area 60 years moving to Sheridan 
five years ago.

He was a 60 year member of the Palo Masonic lodge, member of the Palo United 
Methodist church.

In 1914, he was married to Clara Hawley and she survives as does a son, Ralph 
H. Safford of Rosebush and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Smith of Grand Ledge; eight 
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday a 2 pm at the Palo United Methodist Church.  
Rev. John Gurney will officiate and interment will be at Palo cemetery.

Graveside services will be conducted under the auspices of Palo Masonic 
Lodge.  Arragements by Stebbins-simpson funeral home in Sheridan.
