Bennett lib@dogsbark.com April 17, 2010, 11:41 pm Ionia Sentinel-Standard SAGE, GRACE PEARL (BOWMAN): SENTINEL-STANDARD, IONIA, Mi, Monday, Sept. 7, 1987, p 2: "Area obituaries - IONIA - GRACE SAGE, 97, of Ionia died Saturday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. The daughter of William and Catherine Felbel Bowman, she was born Jan. 30, 1890, in Lansing. At 6 years of age she moved to Lyons and attended Lyons Public Schools. She was married to George L. Sage June 15, 1910, in Ionia. She spent 37 years on their farm on Stone Road. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ionia, its CCW Class, Associated Baptist Women, and Ionia Senior Citizens. She was also a member of Pewamo Order of the Eastern Star and the Lyons Women's Relief Corps. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Arlene) Trumble of Fenwick; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Emma Sage of Saranac; and a sister, Mabel Fitch of Hastings. Her husband George preceded her in death in 1964 and son Wayne in 1960. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Rich Street Chapel of Montgomery-Cook Funeral Home, with the Rev. Timothy Gillette officiating. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home." SENTINEL-STANDARD, IONIA, MI, Wednesday, September 9, 1987: "Area obituaries - IONIA - GRACE SAGE - Funeral services were held for Grace Sage, 97, of Ionia, Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Montgomery-Cook Funeral Home, the Rev. Timothy Gillette officiating. Organist was Dorothy Horrocks. Burial was in Balcom Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Townsend, James Roberts, Gerald Krywanski, James Horrocks, Steve Fountain, and Bruce Boroff. Following the graveside services, lunch was served to the family and friends at the First Baptist Church."
