DANNY LEE SAGE DIED THURSDAY

Danny Lee Sage, two years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Benson Sage of Grand Rapids, 
passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 21.

Danny was drowned in a rain swollen drainage ditch back of his parents home and 
was swept nearly a mile and a half away to Buck creek. The child was discovered 
missing from his home about 10:45 and volunteers and police officers began the 
search, which ended at 1:30 p.m. Police officers said the boy apparently opened 
a back yard fence gate and wondered in the drainage ditch as he had no fear of 
water.

Surviving besides his parents are a brother Patrick, two sisters, Carol Kay and 
Janice Ann; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hansbarger of Saranac and 
grandmother Mrs. Orlando Sage of Muir.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Roth funeral home at Lowell with 
burial in the Muir cemetery.

The Hansbargers were former local residents and the Sages moved to Grand Rapids 
about five years ago from Ionia.
