Bruno was born February 12, 1922, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the son of James D. Salazar and Delfina Olivas. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during World War II. He was in the 389 Bomb Group and a P.O.W. in the European Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Community Theater of Ionia, the Saranac American Legion and a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Saranac. He is survived by one son Randy (Barbara) Cook of Florida, three daughters, Susan (Randy) Smith of Ionia, Tracie (Delbert) Swain III of Ionia and LaVonne (Grant) Daggett of Saranac, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with Rev. Thomas Boufford officiating. Interment Veterans National Cemetery in Battle Creek. Visitation will be held Monday two hours prior to the funeral service. Anyone wishing may make contributions to the Saranac American Legion.
