Sandborn, 80, of Portland, died Dec. 5, 1989 at her residence. She was born June 7, 1909 in Berlin Township, the daughter of Horace and Edith (Soule) Atwell. She was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Portland Order of Eastern Star No. 258. Surviving are five sons, George Sandborn of Palo Alto, Calif., Lauren Sandborn of Mio, Steve Sandborn of Los Angeles, Calif., Charles Sandborn of Portland and James Sandborn of Cadillac; five daughters, Jackie Whitfield of Kenansville, N.C., Beverly Fedewa of Portland, Jenean West of Portland, Norma K. Hill of Portland, Mary Sanborn of Portland; 32 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren; and one sister, Irma Wilcox of Portland. Funeral services were held at the Portland United Methodist Church, the Rev. Stanley Finkbeiner officiating. Burial is in Portland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve and Bob Munchback, John West Jr., Mike Fedewa, Kevin, Randy, Derek and Gregg Sandborn, and Dan West.
