Funeral services were held at the Sebewa M. E. church Tuesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Skentlebury, pastor of the Portland Congregational church. Burial was made in Danby cemetery. Mrs. Sandborn’s maiden name was Elma Luscher. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lusher, well known pioneer residents of Sebewa. She was born in that township on August 13, 1874, and on April 10, 1892 was united in marriage to Mr. Sandborn. To this union nine children were born, Herbert, of Duluth; Columbus, who died in January 1920, Jacob, of Saranac; Riley of Orange; Lawrence, teacher in the schools at Biely, Mich.; Raymond, Melvern and Miss Vera, at home. Besides the husband and eight children four sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Norman Gibbs of Portland; Mrs. John Johnson of Brigham, Utah; Mrs. Harry Tussing of Lake Odessa; and Mrs. Herbert McNeil of Portland. Mrs. Sandborn had been an invalid for the past 12 years. She was a patient sufferer and in spite of the impairment of her health was always cheerful, constantly hoping for the best. During her illness she had submitted to several operations, these being performed at Ann Arbor and Mayo Brother’s hospital at Rochester, Minn. She was a devoted wife and mother and leaves a host of friends to mourn the loss of the family. At the age of 17 years she joined the Sebewa Methodist church, taking a keen and active interest in its affairs which continued until death called her away.
