Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Fri. Aug. 6, 1976

Allen R. Sandborn, 69, of 1286 West Main St., died Friday morning at Ionia 
Memorial hospital.

He was born in Sebewa township, Ionia county, august 8, 1906, the son of 
Lawrence and Alma Luscher Sandborn.

He attended rural schools in Sebewa township and Portland high school. He 
farmed in Danby and Orange townships until 1955 when he moved to Ionia.

He was employed by the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad for eight years and retired 
in January, 1973 after 20 years at the Michigan Reformatory.

He married Meredith Miles, June 15, 1929 in Portland. He was a long-time member 
of the Danby and Berlin Center Grange.

Survivors include his wife, Meredith; four sons, Allen Jr. and James of Ionia; 
and Bruce and Robert of Sunfield; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Fox of Lansing, 
19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Three brothers, Riley of 
Portland, Lawrence of Franklin, North Carolina and Melborn of Sunfield also 
survive. 

Services will be at 2 pm Sunday from the Leddick funeral home, Ionia. Rev. 
Maurice Christenson of Portland Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be 
at Easton Cemetery.
