Sanford, 83, of Woodard Lake went to be with Jesus Saturday morning, March 25, 2016 at the Laurels of Carson City. Neil was born on Dec. 9, 1932 in Maple Rapids, the son of Wilber "O.D." and Ila (Davey) Sanford. Neil was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW (Saranac and Sheridan) , Fraternal Order of Eagles (Ruskin, Florida) and the Moose Lodge (Michigan and Florida). He served 30 years as a corrections officer with the State of Michigan, retiring in 1984. Neil enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, golf, wintering in Florida and living at Woodard Lake. He was married on July 10, 1982 to Darlene "Casey" Kay Jones-Stauff. Neil is loved and survived by his wife and children, step-children, grandchildren and brothers and sisters. Neil was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Mitchel, Richard and Jules and three sisters: Faunease, Joy Lou and Fanchon. Memorial service at Shiloh Church.
