Lake Odessa – John Sargeant, 65, a retired farmer living on Route 1, died Friday
afternoon at the Ferguson-Droste-Ferguson Hospital in Grand Rapids after being a
patient there for several weeks.  He was born November 10, 1888, in Sebewa the
son of S.H. and Mary Sargeant.  Mr. Sargeant had lived most of his life in the
Lake Odessa area.

Surviving are his wife, Arvilla; two daughters, Mrs. Carroll Brodbeck of Lake
Odessa and Mrs. Harris Ingraham of Lansing; two sons, John Jr., of Jackson and
George at home; four sisters, Miss Irene Sargeant of Portland, Mrs. Iva Miller
and Mrs. Bertha Harwood of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Mary Nichoson of Belding; his
mother, Mrs. Mary Davey of Grand Rapids; and grandchildren.  Funeral services
will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens funeral chapel.  Burial will be in
South Boston cemetery.
