Lake Odessa Wave - December 28, 1972
          RHODA E. SAWDY PASSES AWAY
   Mrs. Rhoda E. Sawdy, 92, of Woodland died at the Barry County Medical Care
Facility in Hastings where she 
had been a patient for six years.
   She was born April 13, 1890 in Sebewa township of Ionia county, the daughter of
Christian and Lucy 
(Carpenter) Yager.  She was married to Robert Austin of Saranac, March 21, 1900, and
he died May 25, 1927.  
She married Bert Sawdy of Woodland, January 25, 1944, and he passed away August 23,
1952.
   Mrs. Sawdy was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church.
   She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Leon (Phebe) Nicholson of Cedar Springs,
Mrs. Herald (Lucy) 
Classic and Mrs. Forest (Florence) Begerow, both of Woodland; three step-sons, Paul
Sawdy of Arizona, Clif 
Sawdy and Victor Sawdy, both of Woodland; two step-daughters, Mrs. Marion (Opal)
Shade of Lowell, and 
Mrs. Kenneth (Leona) Travis of Sunfield; 20 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren;
and 6 great-great-
grandchildren.  Three sons preceded her in death.
   Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 27, in Pickens Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Charles 
Dunbar and Rev. Harold Blakely officiating.  Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
