The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Tuesday, January 26, 1960
Mrs. Florence A. Sawdy, 60, route three, Hastings, died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday 
at Pennock hospital in Hastings.  She had been a patient two weeks but had 
been in ill health for some time.  Born August 25, 1899 in Castleton township, 
Barry county, she was the daughter of Eugene and Mae Cramer Vandlen.  She was 
married to Miles Sawdy in Woodland November 16, 1917, and had been a lifelong 
resident of Barry county area.  She was a member of Woodland United Brethren 
church.

Besides her husband, Miles, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William 
(Rosa) Eddy and Mrs. Gordon (Irene) Norris of Hastings, and Mrs. Vernon 
(Doris) Bjork of Lake Odessa; three sons, Lloyd and Edward Sawdy of Orland, 
California, and Frederick of Clarksville; two brothers, Earl Vandlen and 
Charles Vandlen of Hastings, and 16 grandchildren.

Service will be held at Pickens funeral chapel Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with 
burial at Woodland Memorial cemetery  the Rev. Max Ovenshire of Pleasant 
Valley United Brethren church will officiated.

Service for Mrs. Florence A. Sawdy, 60, route three, Hastings, was held at 
3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa.  Mrs. Sawdy 
died Tuesday at Pennock Hospital in Hastings.  

The Rev. Max Ovenshire of Pleasant Valley United Brethren church officiated 
and burial was at Woodland Memorial cemetery.  Bearers were Allen Senters, Roy 
Erb, Orley Hulliburger, Ted Tidus, Calvin Nash and Charles Wieland.
