Portland Library Scrapbook - August 1884

                           MILTON SAWYER

DIED- In Portland, Aug, 4th, 1884, Mr.Milton Sawyer, aged 79 years, 1 month and 7 
days. Thus another of Portland's old settlers and most honored citizens has 
passed quietly to rest.Mr.Sawyer came to this place in the year 1842, and 
remained almost the entire time in this immediate vicinity. The funeral services 
took place yesterday afternoon at the residence of Mr.R.Baldwin, Rev.M.M. Callen 
officiating.
