Saxton was born in Erie, Erie county, new York in 1838. At the age of 12 years, he came with his parents to Lyons and lived here until 1880 when he made Detroit his place of residence. He was well known in Lyons and surroundings and had many warm friends. His health had been poor for the past 37 years. Six months ago he placed himself under the doctor’s care and at the end of four and one half months was removed from his home to Grace Hospital where he died Thursday morning, December 12, at the age of 63 years, from the effects of some peculiar kidney and stomach trouble not positively known. The stomach was taken back to Detroit to be analyzed. The remains were brought to Lyons where the funeral took place at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Marchal Hamler last Sunday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. J.C. Jewell, and the M.E. Choir rendered several beautiful and appropriate musical selections. Interment at Lyons cemetery. Deceased is survived by a wife and son, mother and two sisters.
