She had been in failing health for three years, but retired Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock about as usual. At seven o’clock the next morning she was found dead in bed, having died but a short time previous, her body being still warm. Deceased was born in Ohio in May, 1812, living there until 1850. Her maiden name was Pratt. She was married to Loren D. Saxton and they removed to Ionia township in 1850, locating on the present Hodgson farm, just west of this village, where they lived for six years, and then moved to Lyons and kept the Saxton hotel which was situated on the corner where Judson Wolford’s residence now stands, the building having been torn down the past summer. Mrs. Saxton died some 20 years ago, since which time deceased has made her home with her daughter Mrs. Marsh Hamler. Some three years ago she suffered a slight stroke of paralysis, since which she has been gradually failing. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Hamler and Mrs. Eliza Knowles, of Ionia, and a brother Aaron Pratt of Saranac, who is over 90 years of age, and was one of our early settlers, coming here in 1841 or 1842, and operating the Pratt mill on Lighart creek for a number of years, removing to Saranac about 1863. Funeral services will be held at the home of M. Hamler of Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock, standard time. Interment in Lyons cemetery.
