W. R. Bowen and family of Keene were called to Kalamazoo, Saturday, December 10, by the death of a brother-in-law, Dr. Perry Sayles, following an operation on Friday previous. The funeral was held December 13, at two o’clock, under the auspices of the F.O.O.F. of which he was a member. Dr. Sayles had been in poor health for about two years and when an operation was found necessary, it was discovered he was suffering from cancer and of such a nature that nothing could be done. He realized his condition to the last. One brother, Cyrenus, of Langston, and two sisters, Mrs. Bert White and Mrs. George (unreadable), of Lowell, were at his bedside. One sister and one brother of a family of fifteen have passed on. The others with the widow and a host of friends are left to keep in memory the kindly acts of him whom everyone loved. Dr. Sayles was born in Keene 52 years ago, and was married to Julliette Bowen in 1882. He graduated from the Detroit College of Medicine and he practiced in Kalamazoo for the past 25 years.
