The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 24, 1954


Mrs. Mary Jane Sayles, 88, died Sunday, May 23, at the home of her daughter, 
Mrs. Glennis Abbott of 519 Oakdale street, Grand Rapids, where she had resided 
for the past four years following the death of her husband, Elroy Sayles.

She was born February 1, 1866, in Oakland county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
John Wilson Sr.  She had resided on a farm north of Saranac for 50 years.  Mr. 
and Mrs. Sayles celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary October 16, 1949.

Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Glennis Abbott, are two nephews, Arland 
and Alden Abbott; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Rowland of Lansing and one niece, 
Mrs. Mattie Supple also of Lansing.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at Morris funeral 
home with the Rev. Glenn McCarty officiating.  Interment will be at Saranac 
cemetery.
