She passed her childhood days in Dumfries, Canada with her five brothers and four sisters and was married at the age of eighteen years to C. C. Sayles. About twelve years later the family removed to Keene, Ionia county, Michigan where they lived for fifty-two years. Her husband died in 1893 being the first death in the family of seventeen, there being ten sons and five daughters, fourteen of whom survive, the youngest being forty-four years old. Mrs. Sayles died Monday morning, July 4, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clinton White. Funeral services were held yesterday at one o’clock at the home, conducted by Rev. J. H. Wesbrook and the body was laid to rest in Oakwood.
