Mary Jane Sayles, former Lowell resident, passed away Sunday at the home of 
her daughter, Mrs. Glennis Abbott at 519 Oakdale, Grand Rapids, where she has 
made her home since the death of her husband, Elroy E. Sayles, in 1950.  She 
was 88 years old and had not been confined to her bed until about a week ago.

Mrs. Sayles was born near Milford in Oakland county, Feb. 1, 1866, the eldest 
daughter of John C. Wilson Sr., and Mary J. Wilson.  They moved to a farm near 
Lowell when Mary was two years old and she resided here until her marriage to 
Mr. Sayles.  They bought a farm on Hawley Rd. in Keene township, Ionia county, 
which was their home for many years.  They celebrated their 60th wedding 
anniversary in October 1949.

Surviving are the daughter and two grandsons, Arland and Alden Abbott of Grand 
Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Rowland and a niece, Mrs. Matie Supplee both 
of Lansing.

Funeral services were held at Morris Funeral Home in Saranac Wednesday 
afternoon and burial was made in the family lot in Saranac cemetery.
