Ionia Standard – Friday 4 March 1892
John Scarlett died February 26th, at his home on North Jefferson Street.  His 
age was 93, and he has lived in Ionia about twenty years.  He leaves five 
daughters, Esther and Ellen Scarlett and Sarah, wife of S. B. Lake, of this 
city, and Mrs. Jennie Morton and Margaret Henderson of Canada.  He was step-
father to Mr. Gregg Williams.
