Kent B. Schaefer Sr., 61, of Muir passed away Oct. 24, 2001 in Grand Rapids.

He was born April 29, 1940 in Lyons, the son of Arthur and Marguerite (Kebler) 
Schaefer.  He went on to marry Frances Sherman Aug. 20, 1960 in Muir.  He lived 
in Lyons, Muir area all of his life and he attended Lyons High School.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Schaefer of Muir; his children, Kent Brian 
“KB” (Cindy) Schaefer Jr. of Muir, Jody (Greg) Johnston of Ionia.  Tracy 
Shattuck of Muir, Jackie (Bill) Ferris of Ionia and Lori (J.P.) Clover of 
Ionia; brothers, Ronald (Ruth) Schaefer of Fenwick and Richard (Linda) Schaefer 
of Muir; sisters, Patricia Croel of California and Diane (Bruce) Rowe of 
Portland; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Zion United Methodist 
Church in Ionia with Rev. Ken Harger officiating.  Visitation will be held at 2 
p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday at Lake Funeral Home of the Hull 
Memorial Chapel in Muir.

Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to First Responders of Lyons-
Muir or American Cancer Society.  Envelopes available at the funeral home.
