Arnold M. Schafer, 79, 240 Washington, Pewamo, died Sunday October 5 at Carson 
City Hospital following a short illness.  He was a retired farmer.  He was a 
member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Pewamo, Fowler Council Knights of 
Columbus, American Legion Post 153, of St. Johns, Board of Director Central 
National Bank, and a veteran of World War I.  He was active in many community 
affairs.

He married Dorathea Holfman in 1909 in Westphalia.  She survives.  Also 
surviving are five sons, Stanley and Ronald of Muir, Gilbert and Delbert of 
Pewamo, David of Albequerque, New Mexico.  A son Ralph preceded him in death in 
1963.  Two daughters Mrs. Eveline Miller of Pewamo and Mrs. Beatrice Karber, 
St. Johns, 39 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers, Ernest 
and Isadore, one sister Mary Smith of Pewamo.

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic church in Pewamo Wednesday 
at 10 a.m. with Msgr Thomas Bolger officiating.  Rosary will be recited at 3 
and 8 p.m. daily at George Chapel, Osgood Funeral home in Fowler.  Burial will 
be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
