Paul H. Schafer, 69, of Hubbardston, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Carson
City Hospital.
He was born June 1, 1933, in Clinton County, the son of Henry H. and Veronica
Bierstetel Schafer.
Paul married Maybelle Jean Post on Feb. 6, 1958, in Ionia.  He was a U.S. Army
veteran.  He retired from Frigidaire in 1995 after 40 years of service.  He
enjoyed woodworking, small engine repair and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Veronica Schafer.  He is
survived by his wife, Maybelle Jean Schafer; two sons and daughter-in-law,
Ronald Schafer of Holland, Doug and Julie Schafer of Hubbardston; two daughters
and son-in-law, Sue and Danny Eller of Sheridan, Becky Schafer of Hubbardston;
11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with one on the way; three
brothers and two sisters-in-law, Tom and Helen Schafer of St. Johns, Ben and
Jean Schafer of Lansing, Jerry Schafer of Hubbardston; three sisters and
brother-in-law, Rita Gesselman of Carson City, Agnes Bradbury of Hubbardston,
Mary Ann and Steve Cramer of Pewamo.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson
City, with the Rev. Ken Nash officiating.  Interment is in East Plains Cemetery,
Matherton.  Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. 
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church building fund.
