Marie V. Schafer, 95, of Eagle, formerly of Hubbardston, died Tuesday, Aug. 25,
1992, at Hazel Findley Country Manner in St. Johns.  Funeral Mass was
concelebrated Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church, Hubbardston, by the Rev.
Father William Reitz and the Rev. Father James Cusack, with interment in the
church cemetery.

Mrs. Schafer was born Jan. 2, 1897, in the Netherlands to Franciscus and Dingena
Datema, and immigrated to the United States in 1916.  She was a member of St.
John the Baptist Church in Hubbardston.  In 1925 she married Joseph Schafer, who
died in 1976.  She also was preceded in death by a son, the Rev. Father Bernard
Schafer, on Dec. 28, 1991.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Schafer, Eagle, Rita Schafer, Orlando, Fla.;
five sons and their wives, Francis and Margo Schafer, DeWitt, William and Jean
Ann Schafer, Fowler, Joseph and Phyllis Schafer, Eugene and Prescilla Schafer,
John and Sharon Schafer, Hubbardston; a brother, Frances Datema, Hubbardston; 23
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
