GERTRUDE IRENE SCHAFER
Gertrude Irene Schafer passed away March 4, 2018. She was born Nov.. 12, 1926, in 
Laurium, the daughter of George and Irene (George) Beaton.

Gertrude married Francis A. Mullin Jan. 8, 1949. he preceded her in death in 1965. 
She then married Richard L. Schafer June 13, 1969. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Gertrude was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ionia. She is survived
by her son Kenneth Mullin of Beaumont, Calif. Step-daughters Diane Whitten of Lakeway,
Texas, and Susan Demeres of Mandarin, Fla. Brother Paul (Joan) Beaton of New York. Sister 
Margaret Yeo of Laurium. Several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces
and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Michael Mullin
and brothers Alan, Glenwood, Robert, George and Harold Beaton.

Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday March 6, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church
in Ionia at 3 p.m. with Father Tom Brown presiding. Interment in the spring will be at
Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Online
