July 9, 2018 Excerpts from Obituary: Marvin Andrew Schafer-of Portland died Saturday July 7, 2018-age 95 Born December 4, 1922 the son of Alfred and Cecilia (Schneider) Schafer. Member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, K of C Council # 2168, Member of American Legion Veteran of U.S. Army during WW II and the Korea War Was a life-long farmer and retired from T.R.W. in Portland after 30 years service. Preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons, daughter, 4 brothers, & 2 sisters. Surviving are his wife Mary of 69 years, daughters, son, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, sisters, brothers, In-laws, nieces and nephews. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Home. The Rosary prayed at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Wednesday July 11 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, by Rev. Mike Alber, rite of Committal to follow at Portland Cemetery. Military honors provided by V. F. W. Post # 4090 Memorial contribution may be made to St. Patrick Athletic Association or Hospice of Lansing in Marvin's memory.
