MICHAEL E. SCHAFER of Portland
Died September 20, 2019 at home.
Born September 13, 1925, the son of Edward J. & Laura C. (George) Schafer.
Member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church & a devote Christian man.
Mike loved hie family, especially his grandchildren, liked to tinker, ride 
his bike, tell jokes, smile & laugh with others.
A proud veteran of the Korean War, member of Knights of Columbus #2168 & VFW 
Post #4090.
Retired after 43 years of loyal service from Motor Wheel in 1987.
Preceded in death by parents, wife of 63 years, Irene, 6 siblings, 4 in-laws.
Survived by 3 children, 3 siblings, and 3 in-laws.
Thanks to the staff of Portland Assisted Living, Memory Center and Grace 
Hospice for their wonderful care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:00 
Tuesday September 24, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland.
Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery with Military Honors 
provided by Portland VFW # 4090.
Family will receive friends on Monday from 3-7 p.m. at the Lehman funeral 
Home, E.Bridge St, Portland, MI. Rosary will be read at 3:00 p.m.
