The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, April 15, 1929
Mrs. Catherine Schafer, 81, of Lansing, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. 
Anna Fedewa, Sunday morning.  Mrs. Schafer, a native of Germany, came to this 
country when a child of four years of age and lived many years of her life in 
the vicinity of Belding and several in Ionia.

The funeral services will be held in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Lansing, Tuesday 
morning at 10 o’clock.

Eight children survive.  They are L. H. Schafer and William Schafer, Ionia; 
Paul Schafer, St. Johns; John Schafer, Fowler; Mrs. Bert Ulrich, Mapleton, 
Ia.; Mrs. William McAuley, Cleveland, O.; Sister Mary Lucy, Cincinnati, O.  
Mrs. McAuley and Sister Mary Lucy were at the home of Mrs. Fedewa, and 
assisted in Mrs. Schafer’s care.  Rev. Fr. Herman Fedewa, of Detroit, is a 
grandson.
