Wave, Thurs. May 18, 1972 Death Takes Dr. C.L. Schaibly Dr. Colon Lee Schaibly, 65, of 1574 Alexander Court, Waukegan, Ill., a former Woodland resident, died Wednesday evening in a Waukegan hospital. He was born in Woodland on February 6, 1907, the son of Henry and Climena (Durkee) Schaibly. He received his doctorate in education and school administration from Michigan State University. He taught in St. Johns and Kalamazoo, where he also served as principal for 14 years in Kalamazoo school system. He moved to Waukegan in 1956 where he served as director of secondary education of Waukegan Township High School. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Waukegan; a life member of National Education Association, served as a member of executive committee of that organization for two years, a past president of Michigan Education Association and he was a former Rotarian. He is survived b his wife, the former Grace E. Ingram; his mother; Mrs. Climena Schaibly of Woodland; three brothers, Hubert E. of Grand Rapids, Kennard of Edmore and George of Woodland; and a sister, Mrs. Hildred Hesterly of Woodland. Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Hastings. Bishop Charles E. Dennison and Father Wayne C.. Olmstead officiated. Interment was in Fuller Cemetery in Barry county.
