Scheid, 78, of Bluewater Highway, rural Saranac, died Saturday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ronald Township, Ionia County, on November 28, 1904, the daughter of Elmer and Jennie Worthy Edwards. She married Bernard Scheid in Sheridan on June 22, 1927. She worked at Frank’s 5 & 10 in Ionia for several years. During Word War II she worked at the AC Sparkplug plant in Ionia. She and her husband opened Bernie’s Truckstop Restaurant on M-21 between Ionia and Saranac in 1949. They operated the business for 25 years, selling it in 1974. She attended Saranac Community Church. She is survived by her husband, Bernard, one son, Gordon, of rural Saranac, and one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Hamp of Ionia; three grandsons, one granddaughter and three great grandchildren. Two brothers, Clare Edwards of Sheridan and Lewis Edwards of Lawrence, Kan., and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Vera Edwards of Middleton, Mich., also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be at Easton Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. The family will be at Leddick Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday afternoon and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evening.
