Sentinel-Std. - Thursday, Dec. 20, 1956

Edgar J. Scheid, 86, 416 State Street, died Thursday morning at 1:10 at his 
home following several weeks illness.

Born September 15, 1870 in Saranac, he was the son of Peter and Mary Scheid and 
was married to the former Margaret Brogan, Mary Carmody, both deceased and Mary 
Simon, September 3, 1942. He had resided on State Street from Saranac and was a 
blacksmith. Mr. Scheid was a partner with Charles Scheid in the blacksmith shop 
for 50 years in Ionia. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Scheid, two sons, James Scheid of Lansing; 
Joseph Scheid, Belding; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Margaret) Wright of Ionia; a 
step-son, Martin Simon, Lansing, two step-daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) 
Scheid, Belding and Mrs. Richard Smith of Portland; five Grandchildren,  one 
half-brother, Earl Scheid of Saranac and a half-sister, Mrs. Bertha Whorley, 
Saranac.

Rosary will be said Friday evening at 7:30 at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home 
and funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday with a Requiem high 
mass at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet 
cemetery.
