Harriet Elaine Scheiern, age 88, of Ionia passed away Dec. 29, 2009 in Ionia.

She was born Aug. 23, 1921 in Saranac the daughter of Harrison and Maysel 
(Poole) Sherwood. Harriet attended Western University. She married Harold W. 
Scheiern Aug. 9, 1952 in Hamilton, Ind. She taught at Benedict School on the 
corner of David Hwy. and M66.
Harriet is survived by her sons, Gilbert (Deborah) Scheiern of Ionia and Barry 
Scott Scheiern of Grandville; brother, Wayne (Ann) Sherwood of Ionia; 
grandchildren, Neal, Royce and Sylvia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, 11 a.m. at Saranac 
Cemetery with Pastor Den Slattery officiating. The family will receive friends 
and relatives Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. In lieu of 
flowers, please send any donations to Ionia Area Hospice. Online condolences
